Airborne BMX – Jumps That Aren't a Walk in the Park

At first glance, Airborne BMX looks simple: a BMX bike, a few ramps, and tracks stretching out to the sides. But once you start playing, you realize it takes more than just holding down the Space bar. Hit a ramp with the wrong timing, and your bike could go flying wildly off-course.

Gameplay

The Space bar is your most important key. It drives the bike forward and controls the "pump" mechanic. Timing your press or release as you approach the lip of the ramp determines the power of your launch.

The real fun begins when you're airborne. Use the A/D or arrow keys to rotate the bike, and the W/A/S/D keys to pull off tricks. Add the Shift key to the mix for advanced maneuvers. There’s plenty to experiment with, from backflips and frontflips to barspins, tailwhips, and turndowns.

But don't get greedy. Cramming a bunch of tricks into a single jump sounds great, but if you fail to land it, your score will suffer.

60 Levels and More

Airborne BMX features 60 levels, over 40 tricks, and more than 200 challenges. You can revisit levels you've already beaten to aim for higher scores, complete different objectives, or hunt for Platinum Medals.

The game also includes 15 riders, each with their own unique BMX models. If you enjoy customization, you can head to the Bike Editor to tweak your ride.

Tips for an Easier Ride

When you first start, don't worry about pulling off flashy tricks. Focus on mastering the "pump" mechanic first. Once you get a feel for how the bike launches off the ramp, rotating it becomes much smoother.

A common mistake is overcorrecting the bike while in mid-air. A slight tilt doesn't necessarily mean a crash; just stay calm and guide the bike back into a landing position.

If you crash, simply press X to restart. For tricky sections, try the same run a few times in a row to memorize the ramp timing, rather than changing your approach every time.

Is It Worth a Try?

Yes—especially if you love BMX but also want a game that offers a genuine challenge. You don't need to learn a lot right off the bat in Airborne BMX. Just ride, crash, and try again. The game really gets addictive once you can string a few tricks together and nail the landings.
