Shell Survivor puts a potato with a pile of weapons in the middle of an alien attack. It is a top-down roguelite shooter where a run is split into 20 waves. Stay alive through all of them and you eventually meet the boss.
You do not need to aim or keep clicking to shoot. Your weapons handle that part. Your job is mostly movement: find open ground, slip past crowded spots, and grab useful drops without walking into trouble.
The loop is easy to pick up. Fight for a while, collect materials, visit the shop, then head back out stronger.
Enemies leave useful stuff behind, but chasing every drop can get you cornered.
Materials: Earn XP and give you money to spend.
Level-ups: Pick one of four stat improvements.
Fruit: Grab it when you need extra health.
Crates: Open these for random items.
When the arena gets busy, make a wide loop around the aliens first. Come back for loose materials once you have room. A few missed drops are better than losing the run.
You can hold six weapons. Shell Survivor has 56 to find, plus 136 items, so there is plenty of room to mess around with different setups.
See two matching weapons at the same tier? Merge them. You get a stronger version and open another slot for something new. Weapons can reach tier 4.
Between waves, check the shop before spending everything. Reroll bad choices or lock a useful item if you cannot afford it yet.
The game has 17 characters. They do not all work well with the same gear, which makes experimenting worthwhile.
Early on, I would avoid putting everything into damage. A little survivability gives you more room when later waves start filling the screen.
Once normal runs feel comfortable, move through the seven difficulty levels from Danger 0 toward Nightmare. Endless Mode is there when 20 waves no longer feel like enough.
WASD / Arrows: Move
Mouse: Select menu options
Q: Reroll shop
E: Lock an item
Tab: Check stats
Esc: Pause
Attack: Automatic
One small tip: do not hug the edge for too long. It looks safe until aliens close both exits. Keep some empty ground nearby so you always have somewhere to run.
