Some games only require quick reflexes to win. Meccha Chameleon takes the opposite approach. The game puts players in a hide-and-seek scenario, where patience and observation skills are the deciding factors. You don't transform into objects, nor do you have special skills to become invisible. To outsmart your opponents, you must create your own camouflage.
From the very first few rounds, players will realize that the same location yields different results with each camouflage attempt. Even a slight difference in color or standing at the wrong angle can easily lead to detection.
The game is divided into two groups: seekers and hiders.
If you're a hider, you'll have a short time to observe the map. After choosing a suitable location, open the paint tool, take a color from the environment, and apply it to your character. The goal is to blend in with the wall or ground rather than stand out in the background.
Meanwhile, the Seeker moves around the map checking suspicious areas. In many cases, just a slightly brighter outline than usual is enough to reveal the player.
Getting used to Meccha Chameleon doesn't take long because the number of controls is quite small.
Many people often choose the most hidden location to hide. In reality, it's more important whether the color of that area is easy to copy. Surfaces with more detail will help conceal small mistakes when coloring.
Once your camouflage is complete, try looking at your character from different perspectives. Sometimes, a frontal view looks great, but changing the camera angle reveals quite noticeable differences.
If playing as a Seeker, don't just focus on the ground. Some players prefer climbing to high positions or standing close to the edge of walls because they know opponents often overlook these areas.
Meccha Chameleon doesn't boast overly elaborate graphics or complex gameplay, but the idea of self-camouflage using color gives the game its unique appeal. If you enjoy lighthearted strategic battles where victory comes from observation rather than speed, Meccha Chameleon is a game worth trying.
